Castor Oil for Eyelashes and Eyebrows: Effectiveness and Application Tips

Castor oil nourishes and coats lashes and brows: applied in the evening with a spoolie, it limits breakage and, within a few weeks, makes them look fuller, glossier and darker. It does not act on growth itself, but lashes that break less look longer: choose a pure, organic, cold-pressed oil, like our organic castor oil.
Daily mascara, heavy make-up removal, extensions, plucking: lashes and brows take a lot. Castor oil is the simplest natural way to strengthen them. Here is how to apply it safely and what to expect.
Why castor oil for lashes and brows?
Pressed from the seeds of Ricinus communis (INCI: Ricinus Communis Seed Oil), it contains around 90% ricinoleic acid. Its thick texture wraps each hair in a protective film.
- Nourishes: suppler lashes, softer and tamer brows.
- Strengthens: each hair is coated and breaks less when you remove make-up.
- Defines your eyes: lashes and brows look fuller, darker and glossier.

Does castor oil really make lashes grow?
No, and beware of miracle promises. Castor oil does not create new lashes. It does nourish them and limit breakage, so they can reach their natural length and your eyes look more defined. That is already a lot, and it is what you see in the mirror.
Applying castor oil to lashes in 4 steps
- Remove all eye make-up and pat dry.
- Use a clean spoolie (a washed old mascara wand) or a cotton bud, and wipe off excess oil on the bottle neck.
- Apply a thin layer at the lash roots, from inner to outer corner, never inside the eye.
- Leave on overnight and rinse with lukewarm water in the morning.
On brows
Put one drop on your fingertip or a brow brush, massage gently in the direction of the hair, then brush through. A daily massage tames brows and makes them look fuller.
| Lashes | Brows | |
|---|---|---|
| Tool | Clean spoolie or cotton bud | Fingertip or brow brush |
| Amount | One tiny drop for both eyes | 1 drop per brow |
| When | Evening, rinse in the morning | Evening |
| How often | Every evening or 3 to 4 evenings a week | Every evening |
When will I see results?
- After 2 weeks: suppler, glossier lashes.
- After 4 weeks: visibly fuller, tamer brows.
- After 2 to 3 months: more intense eyes, lashes that break less.
Precautions
- Do a patch test behind your ear 24 hours before first use.
- Use very little oil: too much can run into the eye and blur your vision for a few minutes.
- If it stings, rinse thoroughly with clean water and stop.
- Do not apply to irritated eyes or while wearing contact lenses.
